Details
Offered as a single lot on behalf of a European private collection, this pairing represents the height of 18th-century Geneva goldsmithing and enamel painting. The pocket watch, circa 1780, is cased in 18k gold with a gem-set bezel and pendant, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, and diamond-set hands. The verge movement has been serviced and runs correctly. The snuff box, circa 1760, is gold-mounted and enamelled in translucent green over engine-turning, the cover set with a finely painted pastoral scene within a rose-cut diamond border, attributed to Jean-Pierre Le Prince. Both pieces are accompanied by independent specialist condition reports and export documentation. Available to view privately in London.
Provenance
European private collection, acquired at auction in Geneva in 1994 and 2001 respectively. Specialist condition reports available on request.
