Details
The reference 3700/1A needs little introduction: it is the original Nautilus, designed by Gérald Genta and launched in 1976. This first-series example dates to approximately 1978 and retains the crisp case geometry and brushed octagonal bezel that collectors prize. The dial is the celebrated blue-black ribbed "garage-door" pattern, with applied white-gold baton indexes and matching hands. The 42mm case wears with a refined presence on the integrated stainless-steel bracelet, which is original to the watch and shows excellent link definition. The automatic calibre 28-255 C is running well and the watch has been recently inspected. It is offered on behalf of a long-standing private client who has owned the piece for more than a decade.
Provenance
Purchased by the current owner from a well-known UK specialist in 2013. Service history and prior ownership documentation accompany the watch. Original box and papers are not included, but a recent condition report and timing certificate are provided.
